The Westminster College Unix Lab |
 |
The Westminster College Unix Lab exists to provide students and
faculty with resources for all aspects of computing research and
study. It provides students with a chance to learn how to work in the
Unix environment, and take advantage of some of the powerful features
Unix offers. Classes such as Architecture, Operating Systems, and
Programming Languages utilize the UNIX lab. We also provide
a Web server for those wishing to
experiment with HTML, CGI, etc. In the future we will also be setting
up an MPI cluster, and many other services, all of which are for the
purpose of students getting "hands-on" experience with some of the
many facets of computer science. If there's something you wish we had
available but don't see (make sure you look around first -- what you
want might be here already!) ask the admins at
admin@aslan.cs.westminster.edu.
Our current installation includes 6 800Mhz PIII's running RedHat
Linux 7.2 and 5 miscellaneous older machines also running RedHat 7.2
in addition to our two servers all on a 100Mbs switched ethernet
network.
