Description of Part II
Part II is an introduction to Distributed Objects. Topics discussed will include distributed object systems and terminology (including CORBA and ILU), distributed objects application architecture applet/servlet development (web-based distributed objects programming). Attendees should have significant background in UNIX and object oriented programming in any of the following languages: C++, Python, Java. Part II is not a prerequisite for Part III ("High performance parallel computing").
Description of Series
This informal, hands-on three part workshop series will introduce several key concepts in distributed computing. Topics discussed will include: sockets programming, web-based applications architecture, client-server application prototyping, CORBA implementations, PVM and high performance parallel computing. Example code will be supplied and applications will be developed by attendees during the workshops. The three parts are designed to be independent of each other.
